Founded in 2006 by Naseer Hashim, the company developed a platform that integrates different IT systems and uses algorithms to optimize radiologist utilization and efficiency. Its services include diagnostic imaging interpretations for X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds, as well as teleradiology, specialized billing, and practice management.

The company's business model focused on partnering with healthcare facilities to improve patient throughput and reduce costs. By using a cloud-based platform, it aimed to match the supply and demand for radiology services across large networks. Before its acquisition, Imaging Advantage had established a significant national presence, serving hundreds of facilities. In March 2017, Envision Healthcare reached a definitive agreement to acquire Imaging Advantage. The acquisition was part of Envision's strategy to expand its radiology physician services and integrate the specialty into its multi-specialty offerings for health systems.
