Hyundai LNG Shipping provides specialized maritime transportation for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The company's origins trace back to 1990 when it was selected as South Korea's first LNG shipping company. It began its first domestic transport service on July 1, 1994, with the launch of the HYUNDAI UTOPIA, the nation's first flagged LNG carrier. In 2014, the LNG business unit was spun off from Hyundai Merchant Marine (now HMM Co.) to form the current entity.

The company was acquired by a consortium led by IMM Private Equity Inc. and IMM Investment Corp. in a 2014 deal. As of April 2025, this consortium secured 100% ownership of the shipping line. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, Hyundai LNG Shipping operates a fleet of LNG and LPG carriers, serving a global market and playing a crucial role in South Korea's energy supply chain. The business model is centered on long-term transportation contracts with major energy clients, such as a foundational 20-year contract with KOGAS. Building on its extensive experience in LNG, the company expanded into the LPG transportation business in September 2020. Its fleet utilizes both Moss and Membrane-type containment systems for its vessels.
