In the world of enterprise IT, a difficult problem was emerging as companies grew. Businesses needed to know how their complex computer systems would handle more users, more data, and more transactions. Answering this question was crucial for growth. Out of this need, Hyperformix was started in Austin, Texas. The company developed software that used mathematical modeling to predict and optimize the performance of IT infrastructures. Hyperformix provided what is known as capacity management. As companies began to heavily virtualize their servers, the challenge of managing resources became even more complex. The software gave businesses a clear view of how their physical and virtual resources were being used and what they would need in the future. This prevented system overloads and helped companies avoid overspending on unnecessary hardware. In 2002, the company secured $12 million in funding from investors including Morgan Stanley to expand its sales and development. A significant event in the company's journey occurred in the fall of 2010. Under the leadership of CEO Peter Klante, Hyperformix was acquired by CA Technologies. The acquisition was a strategic move for CA Technologies to strengthen its offerings for the rapidly growing cloud and virtual environments. Hyperformix's predictive analytics were seen as a key component to help customers manage the shift to the cloud, solidifying the company's legacy in the evolution of IT infrastructure management.
