Hy-Power Nano Inc., founded in 2010 by Joe Grzyb, operated as a developer of nano-enabled industrial coating solutions. The company was a subsidiary of Hy-Power Coatings Ltd., which has been providing commercial coating services in Southern Ontario for nearly 50 years. Hy-Power Nano was based in Brampton, Canada, and focused on creating products that enhance energy efficiency through nano-formulations and liquid dispersion agents.
The company's first major product was the Hy-Power Clear Liquid Solar Blocker. This on-site applied coating for existing windows was designed to block 99.99% of ultraviolet (UV) rays and up to 40% of infrared (IR) rays, aiming to reduce air conditioning costs and prevent IR damage to furnishings. The firm's solutions were intended for various sectors, including construction for building carbon footprint reduction, as well as the solar, plastics, automotive, and oil and gas industries. The company received funding from at least one institutional investor, Venture Ontario. According to market analysis, Hy-Power Nano is now considered a deadpooled company.
