HubSE
Demurrage claims automation software for oil and shipping.
Hub Software Engineering (HubSE), founded in 2009, specializes in delivering global systems to the oil and shipping industries. The company was established by IT professionals, including Managing Director Tim Bridges and Technical Director Scott Waye. Bridges has an extensive background in the IT industry, with over 15 years at Shell and 8 years at BP, where he was responsible for developing and implementing end-to-end chartering, operations, and demurrage systems. Waye has a broad range of experience in sectors including shipping, retail, and banking with companies like BP Shipping, Tesco, and Morgan Stanley.
HubSE's core business revolves around providing cost-effective, comprehensive software solutions for the commercial lifecycle of ship chartering, operations, and performance measurement. The company's flagship product is the Claims Management System (CMS), a web-based platform designed by and for demurrage professionals to manage claims, calculate values, understand exposure, and minimize the risk of time bars. The CMS supports various claim types (wet and dry), features tailored workflows, auto-calculates claims to specific terms, and provides dashboards with KPIs and a full audit trail. The platform also incorporates AI-powered data entry and integrates with existing operational and financial systems.
In February 2025, HubSE was acquired by Marcura, a maritime technology services provider. This acquisition positions Marcura to offer a comprehensive demurrage solution across all commodity types by integrating HubSE's expertise in oil and chemical tanker demurrage into its own Marcura Claims platform. The combined capabilities provide clients, such as shipowners and charterers, with both fully managed and self-service solutions for claims management.
