Hoopi

Hoopi is a B2B2C online marketplace focused on the hobbies and collectibles sector, particularly trading card games (TCGs). The company was officially launched in September 2024. The founders come from entrepreneurial backgrounds in the gaming industry and identified an opportunity in Southeast Asia's fragmented collectibles market. In April 2025, Hoopi secured its first institutional seed funding round led by the Jakarta-based venture capital firm Creative Gorilla Capital.

The platform aims to address issues of authenticity and transparency by offering a suite of services that include a consumer-to-consumer marketplace, live auctions, and gamified experiences. Key features include "live breaking" sessions, where users can watch card packs being opened in real-time, group-buying discounts, and a system for users to bid on rare items. Hoopi also provides a proprietary in-house card grading service called Grade Master to ensure authenticity. The business model generates revenue through transactions on its platform, which facilitates buying, selling, and trading among users. The company vets its sellers to create a more secure environment for collectors.

Since its launch, the platform has seen significant traction, generating nearly US$2.25 million in gross merchandise value from over 40,000 paid orders as of February 2025. At that time, it had more than 20,000 active users and over 3,000 registered sellers. Initially operational in Malaysia and Singapore, Hoopi planned to expand into Indonesia in April 2025 and Thailand later in the year, with plans to open a physical store in Jakarta.
