Honor

Honor is a senior care network and technology platform founded in 2014 by Seth Sternberg, Sandy Jen, Cameron Ring, and Monica Lo. Sternberg, the CEO, was previously the co-founder and CEO of Meebo, which was acquired by Google. Jen and Ring were also tech entrepreneurs, having co-founded Meebo and Plaxo, respectively. The founders' goal was to apply technology to solve inefficiencies and improve the quality of experience within the fragmented home care industry.

Initially launched as a direct-to-consumer service for finding home care aides, Honor pivoted its business model. The company now operates the Honor Care Network, a partnership model where it provides its technology platform and operational support to independent home care agencies. In this arrangement, Honor manages back-office functions, including caregiver recruitment, training, scheduling, billing, and compliance, in exchange for a share of the partner agency's revenue. This allows local agencies to focus on client care while leveraging Honor's scale and technology.

A major milestone occurred in 2021 when Honor acquired Home Instead, a global home care franchise network. This acquisition significantly expanded Honor's global reach, creating a combined network that represents over $2.1 billion in home care services revenue. The company's growth has been supported by substantial venture capital funding, with a Series D round of $140 million in 2020 and a Series E round of $70 million in 2021, which valued the company at over $1.25 billion.
