HOLMRIS B8 stands as a significant Danish provider of furniture and interior design solutions, rooted in a rich history formed by the 2018 merger of two family-owned furniture companies, Holmris A/S and B8 A/S. The original Holmris company was founded in 1937 by cabinet maker Søren Holmris, grandfather of Henrik Holmris, who represents the third generation of the family in the business. The other entity, B8, traces its origins back to a sawmill founded in 1914. Henrik Holmris, who had been CEO of his family's company since 1995, became the CEO of the merged entity and later transitioned to the role of Creative Director to focus on customer relations and product development.
The company operates a business model focused on being a sales and design house rather than purely a manufacturer. It provides comprehensive interior solutions for a diverse professional client base across office, learning, care, and hospitality sectors. While 40% of its products are designed in-house, the remaining 60% consists of curated furniture from other high-quality design brands, positioning HOLMRIS B8 as a one-stop-shop for its clients. This strategy was refined in 2021 into an asset-light model to enhance profitability and flexibility. Revenue is generated through the sale of furniture and the management of large-scale interior design projects for both private and public sector clients.
A key differentiator for HOLMRIS B8 is its deep commitment to sustainability. The company has established a fully circular brand, RECRAFTED, which utilizes upcycled and recycled materials to create new products. It offers services such as carbon footprint calculations for furniture, donation programs for used items, and is one of the few in its industry to have its climate targets certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The firm actively works with clients to repurpose existing furniture, aiming to have up to 40% of a client's furniture be recycled. Following a period of ownership by BWB Partners, which oversaw the merger, HOLMRIS B8 was acquired by the Dutch private equity firm Mentha in 2024 to accelerate international expansion into North/West-European markets.
