Hoi Food Concepts Pvt. Ltd., operating as Hoi Foods, was a food-tech entity established in the Indian market, focusing on the cloud kitchen and B2B food supply space. Founded in April 2017 by Indrajeet Roy and Pawan Raj Kumar, the Gurugram-based company aimed to standardize the food experience, particularly in budget hotels where quality was often inconsistent. Indrajeet Roy, an industrial engineer from IIT Delhi and the company's CEO, identified this market gap from his own travel experiences. Co-founder Pawan Raj Kumar brought over two decades of food service industry experience, including leadership at Continental Equipment, a commercial foodservice equipment business working with major QSRs, and as a founder of a packaged food business. His expertise was instrumental in developing a scalable and standardized supply chain.
Hoi Foods operated a multi-faceted business model. Primarily, it functioned as a food brand for budget hotels, supplying them with pre-prepared, standardized meals from centralized kitchens via a proprietary hyperlocal cold chain. This B2B model allowed hotel partners like OYO Flagship, Treebo, and Fab Hotels to offer a consistent food menu with minimal fixed costs. The company also tapped into the direct-to-consumer market by operating a network of over 150 cloud kitchens across Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru. Through these delivery-only kitchens, it offered multi-cuisine meal combos from its flagship brands—Hoi Foods, Jacky Ching, and Hoi Café—via food aggregator platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato. Revenue was generated from these direct sales and from supplying partner hotels.
The company raised approximately $4.84 million over five funding rounds. A significant pre-Series A round in May 2020 brought in $2 million, led by 1Crowd and including investors like Sprout Venture Partners and AngelList. This followed a $500,000 seed round in November 2018. The capital was intended to enhance its kitchen network, technology, and supply chain infrastructure. At its peak, the company was serving thousands of meals daily across its network. However, according to market data from 2024, Hoi Foods is now considered a deadpooled company.
