In 2008, a unique partnership formed between James Murphy from the UK and Vader Yu from China, creating a company with a distinct vision. They founded HLH to offer high-quality, rapid prototyping and manufacturing services by blending Western service standards with Chinese manufacturing expertise. Their goal was to become one of the fastest and most dependable suppliers in the industry, starting with a focus on CNC machining and vacuum casting. The company’s journey began by providing low-volume parts, but a significant shift occurred as technology evolved. As key 3D printing patents expired, the cost of industrial additive manufacturing in China dropped significantly. Seizing this opportunity, HLH expanded its services to include advanced technologies like SLA, SLS, and metal 3D printing, growing its in-house capabilities to around 100 industrial printers. This strategic expansion transformed HLH into a comprehensive service provider. Today, from its facilities in China, the company offers a massive range of solutions under one roof, from 3D printing to rapid injection molding and sheet metal fabrication. In June 2014, a separate Danish entity named HLH Electronics was acquired by Selektro Group following bankruptcy. Meanwhile, HLH Prototypes continued to scale, establishing a European arm, HLH Rapid, in the UK in 2021 to better serve its global customer base.
