Himera

Himera is a Ukrainian defense technology company specializing in the development of tactical communication systems designed for defense forces operating in complex electronic warfare environments. The company was founded in 2022 by Mykhailo Rudominskyi and Oleksii Oliynyk in response to the critical need for secure communication solutions following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Rudominskyi and his co-founders leveraged their previous experience in hardware startups and consumer electronics to address the communication vulnerabilities experienced by Ukraine's territorial defense forces.

The firm's business model centers on the design, production, and sale of EW-protected radio systems to military clients. Serial production began in April 2023, and the company has since delivered thousands of units to various Ukrainian combat units. This direct access to an active battlefield allows Himera to receive immediate user feedback, enabling rapid product iterations. The company operates on a direct sales model to government defense entities and has also established international distribution partnerships. For instance, Quantropi acts as the exclusive distributor in the US and Canada, and an agreement with Reticulate Micro targets US forces and other international clients.

Himera's product line includes the flagship G1 Pro handheld radio, R1 and B1 repeaters, and E1 internet extenders. These systems are engineered to be resistant to jamming and interception through the use of frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology and AES-256 traffic encryption. Key features include a battery life of up to four days, low probability of detection, and the ability to form a decentralized MANET-type mesh network, ensuring data delivery even without a direct connection between all units. In early 2025, Himera partnered with Quantropi to integrate quantum-secure encryption into its products, aiming to provide future-proof protection against emerging quantum threats. A significant milestone was achieved in the fall of 2024 with the first international sale of its tactical radios to the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory for testing and evaluation.

The company has successfully secured multiple rounds of funding to scale production and expand its product line. This includes a $525,000 angel investment in March 2024 and subsequent investments from firms like Nezlamni fund and Green Flag Ventures. As of August 2025, the G1 PRO radio has been codified by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and NATO, and the company states it is ready for mass production with a potential capacity of 100,000 radios per year.
