Based in Munich, Germany, HIGGS Live was founded in 2016 by Jakob Bodenmüller, Lucas Jacobson, Glenn Glashagen, and Leon Szeli. The company developed a mobile application for live video streaming that allows users to broadcast events from multiple smartphone camera angles.
The core technology, based on patented software from three years of development at a Fraunhofer Institute, enables a director-like experience on a tablet, where a user can switch between different smartphone perspectives and stream the output to platforms like Facebook and YouTube. This software-based approach was created as a cost-effective alternative to traditional live event productions that require expensive hardware and large crews.
The founding team came together through the Manage&More scholarship from UnternehmerTUM and possessed diverse backgrounds in business administration, computer science, business informatics, physics, and psychology. Initially, the company's business model involved sending freelancers equipped with its technology to events. HIGGS Live participated in accelerator programs, including the German Accelerator in New York and AngelPad in the US, to expand its reach. The company was later acquired by Startlean.
