In 2004, the UK web hosting scene was ripe for a new player. Enter Jonathan Brealey and Tim Beresford, two entrepreneurs who had already founded successful hosting companies Webfusion and 123-Reg. They saw an opportunity to create a hosting service that was less technical and more user-friendly, specifically targeting the reseller market. They launched Heart Internet from Nottingham with a custom-built control panel, a feature that was uncommon at the time and made managing hosting services much simpler for their clients. The focus on resellers and ease of use proved to be a winning strategy. The company expanded its product offerings over the years, adding dedicated servers, VPS, and cloud hosting to meet growing demand. This growth attracted the attention of a larger player in the European market. In 2011, a significant chapter unfolded when Heart Internet was acquired by Host Europe Group (HEG), which had previously purchased the founders' other companies. This move combined Heart Internet's strong reseller base with HEG's extensive infrastructure, aiming to create a one-stop shop for hosting needs in the UK. The acquisitions continued as the American hosting giant GoDaddy purchased HEG for €1.69 billion in 2017, bringing Heart Internet under its umbrella. More recently, in 2024, GoDaddy divested Heart Internet, which was then acquired by Your.Online, marking a new phase in its journey.
