The story of h2i.com begins not with an app, but with industrial supplies in 1924. Founder W.W. "Duke" Haldeman started The Industrial Supply Company in Minnesota, selling equipment like racks and shelving. The business evolved when Duke Haldeman and John E. “Jack” Homme began leading the company, expanding into new markets and renaming it Haldeman-Homme to reflect its leadership. For decades, the company grew steadily, providing and installing specialized equipment for everything from school gymnasiums to scientific labs. A pivotal moment arrived in 1977 when the company established an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), becoming 100% employee-owned by 1987. This created a culture of shared purpose that would fuel its future growth. The most significant transformation, however, came much more recently. In 2019, after a series of strategic acquisitions across the country, the company undertook a major corporate restructure. To unify its expanding family of regional brands, it rebranded as H2I Group, a name honoring founders Haldeman and Homme while pointing toward a future as a national leader. Today, H2I Group operates nationwide, designing and building complex spaces for the healthcare, education, and science industries.
