Halou Huandian, also known as Xiaoha Huandian, is the two-wheeled vehicle battery swapping brand under Hello Inc. (formerly Hellobike). It was established in June 2019 as a joint venture by Hello Inc., CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited), and Ant Group. The company aims to provide a comprehensive basic energy network for the two-wheeled electric vehicle market in China.
The core business revolves around a battery-swapping service that allows users of two-wheeled electric vehicles to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones at automated battery cabinets. This model, termed "swap and go," eliminates charging wait times, with a battery swap taking as little as six seconds. The service is designed to address common issues for electric bike users, such as long charging hours, fire hazards from in-home charging, and limited battery range. Users access the service via the company's app or a mini-program within Alipay, where they can locate nearby swapping stations and check battery availability. The business model operates on a subscription basis, where users purchase battery swapping plans.
The platform integrates hardware like smart batteries and swapping cabinets with AIoT and big data technology to create an intelligent and efficient network. By the end of 2021, Halou Huandian had expanded its services to over 300 cities across China. The company has forged significant partnerships, including a major collaboration with China Southern Power Grid (CSG) in November 2021 to jointly develop the "new infrastructure" for two-wheeled vehicle charging and swapping, starting in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
