Guangzhou Metro Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. is a China-based company specializing in engineering and consultancy for urban rail transit, municipal, and construction projects. A subsidiary of the state-owned Guangzhou Metro Group, the institute was established in 1993 and became the first A-share listed rail transit design enterprise in China after its IPO on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in October 2020. The current chairman is Dijun Wang, and the general manager is Zhenyu Lei.
The company's history began with securing design tasks for three stations of the Guangzhou Metro Line 1. By 1998, it undertook the design for the entire Line 2, and in 2000, independently managed the design for Line 3. A significant milestone was its expansion outside the Guangzhou market in 2005, taking on projects in Chengdu and Wuhan. Today, its business operations span over 40 cities in China and have reached international markets, including Vietnam and Malaysia. The institute has been involved in the design of over 1,000 kilometers of rail transit lines.
