Founded in 1993 in the south of France, Circet began its journey specializing in the installation and maintenance of telecommunication infrastructures. The company's services were essential for telecom operators, government entities, and other corporations that owned infrastructure. Under the leadership of President Philippe Lamazou, Circet established itself as a key player in the French market. A pivotal moment in Circet's trajectory came in April 2018, when private equity firm Advent International acquired a majority stake in the company. This transaction was executed in partnership with the existing management team and marked the beginning of a significant international expansion phase. Following the acquisition, Circet grew rapidly, making numerous acquisitions across Europe, including in Ireland, Spain, and Belgium. This period of aggressive growth led to another major event in May 2021, when Advent International sold its stake to the British investment firm Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) for approximately €3.3 billion. This deal saw Circet's revenues surge from €775 million in 2017 to €2.2 billion by 2021, with its employee count growing from 3,000 to over 10,600 in the same timeframe. The founders and management increased their ownership as part of the deal, continuing to steer the company's ambitious growth.
