GreenTiger was an online stock trading platform founded in 2019 by Prateek Swain and Tyler Burnam. The company, which is now considered deadpooled, provided a service that enabled users to buy and sell fractional shares on the NASDAQ and NYSE without commission fees.
The venture was backed by prominent investors, securing $150,000 in a seed funding round on August 19, 2019. This round was led by Y Combinator and also included participation from Soma Capital and the Pioneer Fund. Based in Sunnyvale, United States, the company aimed to make stock market investing more accessible by allowing for the purchase of portions of shares. Co-founder Prateek Swain was also involved in founding two other companies, Swadesh and Swadesh Bank.
