GPUN (Game Pride is UNlimited) is a South Korean game development startup established in February 2024 by CEO Choi Ju-hong. Choi, a veteran of the games industry, previously served as a director at Shift Up, where he worked on the successful titles 'Destiny Child' and 'Nikke: The Goddess of Victory'. The company was founded with a team of experienced developers who had previously worked together at major Korean game companies like NCSoft and Devsisters.
GPUN's first project is 'Project Terrarium', a subculture mecha-shooter game. The game's narrative is set in the near future, where humanity has been forced to live underground in a base called Terrarium after an invasion by an alien lifeform. Players assume the role of a commander, nurturing android pilots known as 'NAU' (Neural Android Unit) and developing combat robots called 'Motor Aim' (M.A.) to fight back and reclaim Earth. The gameplay emphasizes both the action of the 3D shooter mechanics and a strong narrative focusing on the conflict between seven powerful family factions that rose to power in the chaos.
The startup is developing 'Terrarium' using the Unity 3D engine and is targeting a global, single-build release in January 2027. It is planned as a cross-platform title available on mobile, PC, and consoles. GPUN secured ₩1.7 billion (approximately $1.25 million USD) in initial seed funding from Kakao Ventures and Kona Venture Partners. The company has since received additional pre-Series A funding, including a strategic investment from Webzen, which acquired a 10% stake in February 2025.
