One Good, formerly known as Goodmylk, is a Bengaluru-based company operating in the plant-based food sector in India. The company was founded in 2016 by Abhay Rangan, a then 19-year-old vegan activist, and his mother, Veena. The inspiration came after an interaction during an animal rights campaign where someone pointed out the high cost of vegan alternatives as a barrier to adoption. This led to the initial mission of creating affordable and accessible plant-based products. For the first two years, the operation was homespun, with Veena preparing peanut curd in her kitchen and Abhay handling deliveries across Bengaluru.
The business initially focused on meeting the demand for affordable plant-based items to ease the transition for consumers considering a vegan diet. Radhika Datt later joined as a co-founder to help structure the company. The company's first seed funding round occurred in March 2018, which enabled the transition from a home kitchen to commercial manufacturing facilities. Over its lifetime, One Good has raised a total of $2.09 million over five funding rounds from a mix of 32 institutional and angel investors, including VegInvest and SFV. In December 2023, One Good was acquired by the direct-to-consumer superfood brand Nourish You for an undisclosed amount, with the One Good leadership team, including CEO Abhay Rangan and CFO Radhika Datt, joining Nourish You.
One Good provides a diverse catalog of dairy-free products directly to consumers. Its offerings include plant-based milk, butter, cheese, curd, mayonnaise, ghee, paneer, and chocolates. The product line has expanded over time, including through the acquisition of the plant-based nutrition brand Pro2Fit in 2022. A key aspect of their market strategy is price parity with conventional dairy, exemplified by their launch of a plant-based milk priced at the same level as cow's milk. Their product formulations have evolved, with a notable milk product made from cashews, oats, and millets, fortified with calcium. The business operates primarily through an online, direct-to-consumer model, leveraging e-commerce platforms and its own website to reach customers in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai.
