Glowstick Games
At Glowstick Games, our mission is simple Games are a big part of our lives.
Glowstick Games, the studio that evolved into Glowstick Entertainment, was founded in October 2013 by Vincent Livings and his former partner, Mark Henderson. The company operates as an indie game developer and publisher, specializing in horror and survival games. Their flagship title, *Dark Deception*, first appeared as a pre-alpha demo in March 2014, garnering positive attention and achieving Steam Greenlight status after appearances at several conventions.
The company's journey involved a significant pivot. After a disagreement between the founders and an unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign, Vince Livings shut down Glowstick Games in 2016 and immediately started fresh with Glowstick Entertainment. In 2017, Livings partnered with Nikson Sita, creator of a popular fan game, to restart the development of *Dark Deception* using Unreal Engine 4. This led to a revamped initial chapter release in September 2018. The core team now includes Vince Livings as the game designer, his wife Pen Livings as a texture artist, Nikson Sita as a programmer, and Daniel Dombrowsky as the soundtrack composer.
The business model centers on episodic, paid content for its primary game, which is available on the Steam platform. The first chapter of *Dark Deception* is offered for free, with subsequent chapters sold as paid downloadable content (DLC). This approach allows players to sample the game before committing to purchasing the full story. The company also develops and sells other titles, such as the multiplayer game *Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals*. The studio's focus is on creating first-person, fast-paced arcade horror experiences where players must run to survive rather than hide. The company has faced and overcome challenges, including a trademark lawsuit from Monster Energy over the name of *Monsters & Mortals*, which Glowstick Entertainment chose to fight in court.
