GINKAN

GINKAN is a Japanese startup founded in 2015 by CEO Tomochika Kamiya that is focused on developing a token economy through blockchain technology. Initially, the company operated SynchroLife, a restaurant review and recommendation platform that rewarded users with cryptocurrency for their contributions and dining experiences. This platform aimed to solve the issue of untrustworthy online reviews by creating a decentralized, AI-driven system. For restaurants, it offered a performance-based CRM and marketing tool with a 5% commission on sales generated through the platform, eliminating upfront costs.

In April 2023, GINKAN transferred the SynchroLife business to livedoor Co., Ltd. to concentrate its resources on developing new Web3-related services. The company's current flagship project is SyFu, a Web3 wallet with integrated GameFi features. SyFu transforms users' real-world payment data into digital assets within a game, allowing them to level up NFTs and earn tokens. This model aims to make daily consumption more engaging and visualize economic contributions, which have historically been difficult to track. GINKAN holds a patent in Japan for its technology that integrates payment data with NFTs and is also expanding internationally.

The company's founder and CEO, Tomochika Kamiya, is a serial entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in the restaurant industry, which informed the creation of SynchroLife. GINKAN has secured funding from investors including Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, Global Brain, and KDDI Open Innovation Fund.
