Products and Services for Domotics, Energy and Lighting | Gewiss.
In 1970, in the Lombardy region of Italy, an entrepreneur named Domenico Bosatelli had an idea rooted in a new material: technopolymer. He founded Gewiss with a vision to use this plastic as a key component for electrical products, a concept that would prove revolutionary for the industry. The company's focus was clear from the start: to manufacture and market solutions and products for home and building automation, energy protection and distribution systems, and urban and industrial lighting. Gewiss began its journey by developing a range of products for the low-voltage electrical installation market. This focus on a specific, yet essential, niche allowed the company to build deep expertise. The company's growth was steady, built on a reputation for quality and innovation in materials and design. A pivotal moment in the company's history came with its listing on the Milan Stock Exchange in 1998, a move that provided the capital for further expansion. This event marked a new chapter, enabling Gewiss to broaden its international footprint and invest more heavily in research and development. In 2021, the company underwent another significant change when it was delisted following a successful takeover bid by the Bosatelli family's holding company, Unifarm, bringing it back into private ownership to support its long-term strategy.
