GetMyBoat is an online marketplace that connects boat owners with individuals seeking boat rentals and on-the-water experiences. The platform operates on a peer-to-peer model, allowing private owners and charter companies to list their vessels, including everything from kayaks and jet skis to sailboats and luxury yachts. Renters can browse listings, compare prices, and book watercraft through the company's website or mobile apps for iOS and Android.

The company was founded in 2013 by serial entrepreneurs Sascha Mornell and Rafael Collado. The idea came to the co-founders while they were sailing and noticed the large number of boats sitting unused in marinas, recognizing an opportunity to address the high costs of boat ownership and the fragmented rental market. Based in the San Francisco area, GetMyBoat launched with the mission to make boating more accessible and affordable. In February 2025, Bryan Petro, who joined as the first employee, was promoted from COO to CEO, with Sascha Mornell remaining on the Board of Directors.

GetMyBoat's business model is commission-based, charging a service fee to the owner for each completed booking facilitated through the platform. The platform provides secure payments, communication tools between owners and renters, and customer support. It caters to a wide range of customers, from novice boaters who can hire a captain to experienced sailors. Captained trips represent a significant portion of the platform's bookings.

Since its launch, the company has experienced significant growth, expanding to over 150,000 listings in 184 countries and 9,300 destinations. In February 2022, Yanmar Holdings acquired a majority stake in GetMyBoat, injecting $21 million in Series B funding to accelerate international expansion. GetMyBoat continues to operate as a standalone entity.
