GeoFluxus provides a software platform for companies and governments to analyze and visualize waste and material streams, supporting the transition to a circular economy. The company was founded in 2020 by Arnout Sabbe (CEO) and Rusnė Šilerytė (CTO) as a spin-off from Delft University of Technology, originating from their PhD research that began in 2016. Sabbe holds a Master's in Urbanism and Spatial Planning and was a program developer for 'Circularity in Urban Regions' at the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute). Šilerytė's background is also rooted in research at TU Delft.
The platform serves businesses and government entities by automating the processing of complex waste data from multiple sources. Its core functionalities include data automation and verification, compliance reporting (such as for CSRD), performance benchmarking, and circularity optimization. By converting waste data into comprehensible maps and graphs, the system identifies opportunities to reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and source materials more locally and sustainably. This enables clients to improve waste management, meet sustainability goals, and uncover financial benefits. The business model is based on providing this data analysis and reporting solution as a service. For instance, in 2019, GeoFluxus developed the world's first circular economy monitor for the City of Amsterdam.
Significant milestones include winning the EU Datathon Green Deal Challenge in 2020 and being named in the Top 50 European startups in clean mobility in 2023. The company has received backing from investors including Techstars, EIT KIC Urban Mobility, and Arcadis.
