The story of Gabo Systemtechnik, or gabocom, begins in 1956 with the founding of the plastics processing plant Gebrüder Anger GmbH & Co. by the Anger brothers in Bogen, Germany. Initially a manufacturer of drainage pipes, the company pivoted in 1970, creating a division to produce plastic ducts for the telecommunications industry. A key innovation arrived in 2002 with the introduction of the "speedpipe" microduct system. This product transformed broadband expansion by allowing telecommunications providers to flexibly and efficiently blow fiber optic cables into existing duct systems, establishing the company as a European market leader. The company's journey involved several ownership changes. In 2017, Bregal Unternehmerkapital acquired a majority stake. This was followed by a significant event in 2019, when Aptiv PLC, a global technology company, acquired gabocom for approximately $310 million. Following the acquisition, gabocom became part of HellermannTyton, a business unit within Aptiv's Signal and Power Solutions segment, further strengthening its capabilities in the telecommunications market.
