G.M.P. Employers Retiree Trust

The G.M.P. – Employers Retiree Trust is a multi-employer union pension fund that provides post-retirement health and welfare benefits. Established in 1966 through collective bargaining negotiations, the trust serves eligible retirees and their spouses who were members of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union (GMP). Dependent children are not eligible for coverage.

The organization's sole purpose is to administer and pay for medical benefits, prescription drug coverage, and a $2,000 life insurance benefit for eligible retirees. The trust is funded by contributing employers and currently serves approximately 15,000 participants. Since its inception, it has paid out over $1 billion in benefits. The trust operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(9) voluntary employees' beneficiary association.

Based in Fort Myers, Florida, the trust's office administers the Plan of Benefits. Participants are automatically enrolled in a standard Indemnity Plan at no cost upon retirement. They also have the option to enroll in PPO plans. Spouses can be covered under the Indemnity Plan for a monthly premium. Additionally, the trust partners with services like Rx Savings Solutions to help members find lower-cost options for medications and offers voluntary disease management programs through Blue Cross/Blue Shield for PPO participants with specific chronic conditions.
