The story of Fullwood begins in 1785, when founder Matthew Fullwood established a business in London importing annatto seed to dye cheese, creating an early link to the dairy industry. A century and a half later, in 1940, the company, then known as Fullwood and Bland, began manufacturing milking machines in Ellesmere, Shropshire, a move that would define its future. This expansion catered to a growing number of dairy farmers abandoning hand milking for more efficient and hygienic methods. A key development came in 1994 when Fullwood acquired the Packo Group, a manufacturer of milk cooling tanks and processing equipment. This strategic union formed the Fullwood Packo Group, combining expertise in both milking and cooling technologies. The company became an innovator in the sector, introducing one of Europe's first automated milk metering systems and later, the Merlin robotic milking system in 1997. In August 2015, the entire Fullwood Packo Group was acquired by the Dutch family-owned Verder Group, strengthening its position in hygienic and food processing applications. The acquisitions continued in June 2022, when the milking systems division was sold to JOZ, a Dutch specialist in barn cleaning solutions, creating the new entity Fullwood JOZ. This final move completed JOZ's portfolio, allowing them to offer a comprehensive range of high-tech solutions for the modern dairy farmer.
