The company's origins trace back to the mid-1990s on a raspberry farm where surplus raspberries were preserved in vinegar, a recipe created by a farmer named Emma. This initial product gained local popularity.

In 2007, recognizing the potential of this all-natural product, Matthias Hüttmann took over the business as Emma retired. Hüttmann, who had a background in law and management at food companies, saw the opportunity to expand. Starting with just raspberry vinegar made in small pots, he soon added new varieties like orange, strawberry, and lemon. The company, officially founded in 2008, expanded its production capabilities and moved to its current modern facility in Talkau in 2016 to meet growing demand.

Fruchtwerker's business model centers on producing premium, all-natural fruit vinegars using traditional maceration methods, where whole fruits infuse in vinegar over time without added heat to extract authentic flavors and colors. This process results in a product with a high fruit content, up to 30%, distinguishing it from competitors that often use fruit concentrates or artificial additives. The products are vegan and free from artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives. The company sources fruits locally when possible to ensure freshness. Its product line includes over a dozen flavors like raspberry, orange, apple, and pomegranate, as well as balsamic vinegars and oils.
