Framebench Technologies, founded in 2012 by BITS Pilani alumni Rohit Agarwal and Vineet Markan, developed a cloud-based platform for real-time file collaboration. Initially known as Anayalabs, the venture began with seed capital from a BITS Pilani new venture creation program and early-stage funding from investors including Blume Ventures. The company was established to address the inefficiencies in the creative review process, a challenge the founders identified during their internships.
The firm's core business centered on a subscription-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, providing a platform where teams could share, annotate, and discuss various files such as images, videos, and documents in a live, synchronized environment. This eliminated the need for repeated downloads and consolidated feedback, significantly reducing project turnaround times. Primarily targeting digital agencies and creative design firms, Framebench's client roster grew to include major names like HBO, Unilever, and the Republican Party. The platform's main value proposition was its ability to streamline visual collaboration, allowing multiple stakeholders to comment and suggest edits on a single file version simultaneously, which could also be integrated with conferencing systems.
In February 2016, Framebench was acquired by Freshdesk (now Freshworks), a major player in cloud-based customer support software. The acquisition was a strategic move for Freshdesk to integrate Framebench's collaborative technology into its own product suite, particularly Freshdesk and Freshservice, to enhance agent-client and internal team interactions. Following the acquisition, the Framebench platform ceased accepting new users, and its team was absorbed into Freshdesk to apply their expertise in building superior customer engagement features.
