In August 2005, a new venture called Focus.com was founded by Scott Albro in San Francisco. The platform was designed as a business-focused social network where professionals could find expert research on a wide range of topics, from IT and marketing to human resources. It created a community where members could ask business-related questions and receive answers from experts. The core of the business was to provide a space for knowledge sharing among professionals, effectively a Q&A forum for the business world. The platform gained traction by offering valuable, curated information and fostering a community of experts. This allowed members to solve real-world business problems by tapping into the collective knowledge of the network. A significant chapter in the company's story came in August 2011 when it was acquired by Ziff Davis, Inc. Following the acquisition, the original platform at Focus.com was eventually discontinued. The purchase by a major digital media and communications company marked the culmination of Focus.com's journey as an independent entity.
