Florent is a Brazilian sustainable fashion company founded in 2017 by Sarah Almeida. Almeida, a fashion researcher, established the brand after becoming disillusioned with the wasteful practices of the traditional fashion industry. The company operates on the principles of a circular economy, focusing on upcycling and zero-waste production methods. Florent gained significant visibility after Almeida's appearance on the television show "Shark Tank Brasil" in 2020, where she secured investment from Carol Paiffer and Camila Farani.
The business began as a creative laboratory and has evolved its model over time. Initially focused on retail, it later expanded into wholesale manufacturing for other brands and now also provides private label services, allowing other retailers to feature sustainable, certified product lines with their own branding. A core part of its business is a B2B consultancy service that helps other fashion companies implement circular processes, manage waste, and adopt sustainable innovations. This includes guidance on everything from collection development and supplier curation to implementing reverse logistics and achieving green certifications.
The company is recognized as the first zero-waste atelier in Brazil, certified by the Instituto Lixo Zero Brasil, for diverting 97% of its generated residues from landfills. Florent has also received accolades such as 1st place in the Circular Economy category at the Fashion Futures awards, promoted by the C&A Foundation. The brand’s production process is based in Belo Horizonte, where they handle design, pattern making, cutting, sewing, and waste management.
