The story begins in 1989 with the founding of Flexenclosure in Sweden by a group of engineers. Their initial focus was on creating prefabricated, modular data centers and telecom buildings, a novel concept at the time. This approach allowed for rapid deployment of critical infrastructure, particularly in emerging markets where traditional construction was challenging. The company established itself as a leader in this niche, building a reputation for robust and efficient solutions. In 2008, a pivotal shift occurred. David King, who had been with the company for several years and would become CEO, saw a new opportunity in the telecom sector's power needs. This led to the development of eSite, a hybrid power system designed for off-grid and unreliable grid telecom sites. The goal was to provide a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional diesel generators. This innovation marked a new chapter for the company, pushing it into the green-tech space. A significant turning point came in May 2020 when Centiel, a Swiss-based UPS company, acquired Flexenclosure’s data center business. This strategic move allowed the remaining entity to focus entirely on its fast-growing hybrid power systems division. As a result, Flexenclosure rebranded to eSite Power Systems to reflect its new core mission. Today, eSite Power Systems operates as a standalone company, dedicated to deploying its smart power solutions to telecom tower sites globally, driving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
