FlamAid is a Barcelona-based personal safety technology company established in 2022 by founder and CEO Julieta Rueff. The venture was born from Rueff's personal experience with street harassment, which drove her to develop a simpler, faster way to call for help in situations of panic and danger. Instead of active defense mechanisms like pepper spray, she conceived a passive device, the "peaceful grenade," to empower individuals without requiring direct confrontation.

The company's core product is a grenade-shaped personal safety device designed to be clipped onto a bag, keychain, or clothing. When the user pulls its pin, the device activates a 110-decibel alarm, audible from up to two urban blocks away, to deter attackers and attract attention. Simultaneously, it uses Bluetooth to connect to the user's smartphone and sends the phone's real-time GPS location to pre-selected emergency contacts and, optionally, to the police via a companion app. The alarm can only be deactivated through the app, which requires a passcode or Face ID, preventing an assailant from easily silencing it. The free FlamAid app is available for both iOS and Android.

FlamAid operates on a direct-to-consumer (B2C) business model, selling its hardware through its e-commerce website. The device itself sells for approximately €59.99, with family packs and different colored skins available for purchase. While the core app functionalities are free, a premium subscription service is available for $7/month, which enables automatic 911 calls and SMS alerts. The company targets individuals, particularly women and vulnerable groups, who feel unsafe in public spaces. Following its market launch in late 2024, the company reported €40,000 in revenue and projects close to one million for 2025. In July 2024, FlamAid secured its first funding round of €250,000 ($269K) from investors including Ona Capital and several business angels to scale its market presence and further product development.
