Firmo Network

Firmo Network was a financial software company founded in 2017 by Dr. Omri Ross, who also served as its CEO. The company, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, operated in the Fintech and Cryptocurrency/Blockchain sectors. Ross, passionate about blockchain technology and with a background in the FinTech space, particularly in multi-party financial contracts, started Firmo to enhance security and support the decentralized ecosystem.

The business was focused on developing a blockchain platform for executing formally verified financial instruments across various blockchains. Firmo Network created a protocol and a domain-specific language, FirmoLang, designed to translate and execute smart derivatives contracts securely on any major blockchain platform that supports smart contracts. This technology was intended to address the multi-trillion dollar derivatives market by providing a secure infrastructure for financial contracts, such as decentralized futures and cryptocurrency swaps, without needing trusted third parties. The platform served clients like blockchain platforms, exchanges, and liquidity networks, with Bancor being an early adopter.

The company's proprietary language, initially called Chorus and later FirmoLang, was written in Haskell and formally verified to ensure high security standards for financial instruments on the blockchain. In April 2018, Firmo announced the launch of its contract engine and protocol. The firm also had a token sale that ran from August to September 2018. Ultimately, Firmo Network was acquired by eToro Group on March 25, 2019.
