As applications scale and require more resources, users can transition to the "Blaze Plan," where they pay for consumed resources like data storage, database operations, and outbound networking. This model serves a wide client base, from independent developers testing ideas to large enterprises with high-traffic applications. Revenue is also generated through integration with other Google services like AdMob, enabling app monetization through advertising.

The platform functions as a Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS), providing developers with the infrastructure needed for building, managing, and scaling applications without managing servers. For building apps, Firebase offers products like Cloud Firestore and the original Realtime Database (both NoSQL databases for real-time data syncing), Authentication for user identity management, Cloud Storage for file hosting, and Cloud Functions for serverless backend code. To improve app quality, it provides tools like Crashlytics for real-time crash reporting, Performance Monitoring, and Test Lab for testing on various devices.
