FindUrClass operated as an online discovery and aggregation platform designed to connect users with extracurricular activities and hobby classes in India.
The company was founded in 2013, with some sources indicating a 2012 establishment, by Rina Nathani, who served as CEO, and Aakash Jethwani, who acted as the technical co-founder. Nathani's background as a former director at KPMG and a parent in Mumbai informed the company's mission. She identified a personal challenge in finding reliable and suitable extracurricular activities for her children, which spurred the idea to create a centralized, trustworthy resource. Jethwani brought experience in semantic search and website analytics to the venture.
The platform functioned as a marketplace, targeting parents looking for children's activities and adults seeking to learn new hobbies. It addressed the highly fragmented and unorganized market for local classes. Users could search, shortlist, and compare various classes based on criteria like interest, location, and price. The service aimed to be a 'Tripadvisor for classes' by providing detailed information, including schedules, pricing, photos, videos, and user reviews, to help customers make informed decisions. The platform curated its listings to ensure a standard of quality, safety, and hygiene. Initially offering free listings for class providers, the business model was planned to evolve into a subscription-fee-based service.
The company successfully secured angel funding through the VentureNursery accelerator program. In November 2014, it raised approximately ₹1.5 crore (around $250,000) to enhance its technology and user interface. This was followed by another undisclosed funding round in January 2016 to support expansion into other Tier 1 cities beyond Mumbai, such as Pune and Bangalore. At its peak, the platform listed over 20,000 classes in Mumbai across more than 100 categories, including arts, sports, music, cooking, and photography. FindUrClass also partnered with international schools to bolster their after-school activity programs and introduced a 'Family Activity Pass' to encourage family participation.
