The story of Farmos begins not in a garage, but in the Finnish chemical industry landscape. The company was first established as Lääke Oy in 1946, initially focusing on producing veterinary medicines. By 1953, the company was officially founded and expanded its operations, setting up its main factory in Turku in a facility that had a storied past, once serving as a bomb factory during the war. In 1958, the company adopted the name Farmos Oy and began a journey of diversification. It grew beyond animal health into a multi-faceted chemical company, manufacturing and marketing a wide array of products including cleaning agents, hygiene products, and agricultural chemicals. Well-known Finnish brands like Serto, Erisan, and Linna became part of its portfolio, making Farmos a household name. A significant chapter unfolded in the late 1980s when the Finnish conglomerate Orion acquired a majority stake in Farmos. This led to a series of restructuring events. The consumer goods division was integrated into another entity, and the agricultural division was sold off. The journey took another turn in October 2010 when KiiltoClean acquired the entire share capital of Farmos Oy from the investment company CapMan, merging Farmos's operations into its own. This acquisition marked the culmination of a long and complex history for a company that started with veterinary products and grew into a significant player in the Nordic chemical industry.
