Farm Trust, established in 2018 by co-founders Anis Mezghani and Wessim Khiari, operates as an e-commerce marketplace for healthy and ecologically grown agricultural products in Tunisia. The company built a direct bridge between a network of over 420 farmers and both B2B and B2C clients, delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly to their doors. A key differentiator in its operating model is the integration of blockchain technology to ensure end-to-end traceability of its products, allowing customers to verify the journey from farm to table by scanning a QR code. This approach was designed to build consumer trust and guarantee the quality and origin of the produce.
The founding team's background provided a strong foundation for the venture. CEO Anis Mezghani brought experience from his time at the United Nation Headquarters and as an outreach coordinator with the StartUp FIU incubator, complemented by a dual degree in Management and Entrepreneurship from Florida International University and Skema Business School. This experience connects to Farm Trust's mission of creating a structured and trustworthy agricultural supply chain. In January 2022, Farm Trust was acquired by LAMMA, a Tunisian last-mile delivery and q-commerce startup. The acquisition was a strategic move to integrate Farm Trust's network of farmers and quality produce into LAMMA's expanding quick commerce platform, which aims to deliver everyday items in under 45 minutes. Although acquired, the Farm Trust brand was set to maintain its operational independence while leveraging LAMMA's superior logistics for expansion into new markets like Morocco. Later in 2022, the combined entity was acquired by the Egyptian e-grocery platform Appetito, with the goal of creating a major player in the African q-commerce market.
