Facturedo, which now operates under the name Klimb, is a financial technology firm that established a marketplace for invoice financing. The company was founded in 2015 by Álvaro Echeverría and Héctor García. Echeverría, who serves as the CEO, has a background in investment banking and e-commerce, which provided him with insights into the financial needs of businesses.
The company's primary offering is a crowdfactoring platform designed to address the liquidity challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This model allows SMEs to sell their outstanding invoices, or accounts receivable, to a community of investors, thereby converting future payments into immediate cash flow. The platform operates as a marketplace where businesses can offer their invoices for auction. Investors can then bid on these invoices, choosing from various offerings based on risk and expected return. Once an auction is complete, Facturedo disburses the funds to the SME. The company generates revenue by charging a success fee to investors, which is a percentage of the capital gain from each investment.
Initially launched in Chile, Facturedo expanded its operations to Peru in late 2017 and later to Mexico, navigating different regulatory environments in each country. By April 2019, the company had raised USD 500,000 in a funding round led by Latinia and had financed over USD 10 million in invoices for approximately 300 SMEs. The platform provides investors with an alternative fixed-income asset with short-term maturities, typically between 30 and 120 days, and offers annualized returns ranging from 8% to 20%. However, in November 2024, the Peruvian entity, Facturedo PE S.A.C. (operating as Klimb), began a process of ceasing operations due to a legal issue that resulted in the freezing of its bank accounts.
