Faceo emerged in 2000 from the strategic merger of the facility management divisions of two major French industrial groups, Alstom and Thalès. The company established itself as a significant European player in the facility management sector, offering a comprehensive suite of services for professional buildings.

The firm's core business involved the outsourcing of support functions for companies, allowing them to concentrate on their primary activities. Faceo managed a wide array of services related to building maintenance and occupant comfort. This included technical services such as managing heating, ventilation, and fluids, as well as security services like access control and fire safety, and occupant services like reception and cleaning. Its business model was centered on providing integrated solutions under multi-year contracts, catering to large multinational corporations across various sectors, including industry, energy, telecommunications, and banking.

By 2007, the company had attracted significant investor interest, leading to a leveraged management buyout backed by Apax Partners and other financial investors. This period saw Faceo expand its footprint across Europe, operating on over 2,000 sites in countries such as France, the UK, Germany, the Benelux region, Italy, and Spain. By 2009, the company recorded revenues of €430 million and employed 2,500 people.

A major milestone in Faceo's history occurred in 2010 when it was acquired by VINCI, a global leader in concessions and construction. Following the acquisition, Faceo was integrated into VINCI's Energies business line and rebranded as VINCI Facilities. This move was part of VINCI's strategy to bolster its facility management capabilities and respond to the growing demand from major public and private clients for a single operator to handle technical maintenance and services.
