In 1971, the First Ann Arbor Corporation, or FAAC, was founded in Michigan. That same year, it began its legacy not on a commercial highway, but on the simulated battlefield, delivering weapon simulation systems for the U.S. military's air combat training programs. For two decades, FAAC became the sole commercial provider for these critical integrated air defense simulations for air combat training. After establishing deep roots in military applications, FAAC pivoted, applying its high-fidelity simulation expertise to the civilian world. In 1991, it introduced the first fully interactive tractor-trailer truck simulator in the U.S. This was followed by a series of firsts, including the first transit bus simulator in 1999 and the first fully interactive simulators for Fire/EMS responders. The company’s technology allowed for training in everything from situational awareness to emergency procedures, aiming to save lives and reduce accidents. A significant event in the company's journey occurred in 2004 when FAAC was acquired by Arotech Corporation. This move was designed to expand Arotech's simulation business into the military arena where FAAC was a leader. The existing FAAC management remained to continue operations as a wholly-owned subsidiary, combining its military prowess with Arotech's strength in law enforcement simulators.
