Evertale was a Copenhagen-based startup founded in 2011 by Matteo Danieli, Francesco Patarnello, and Luca Ferrari. Initially, the company operated as a journaling service that aggregated data from user activities like calls and photos to create a self-writing diary using AI. The founders later pivoted the business, launching the Wink app, which focused on creating collaborative photo albums by aggregating photos from various users based on time and location data. Nearby users could be invited to contribute to these shared photo streams.
The founding team's journey began while they were living in Copenhagen. When the venture struggled to gain traction, the co-founders agreed that some would take jobs and financially support the others who continued to work on the startup. Luca Ferrari secured a high-paying position at McKinsey, and his salary was used to cover food and rent for his co-founders, allowing them to continue developing Evertale. On February 24, 2012, Evertale secured an undisclosed amount in a Seed funding round from investors Mangrove Capital Partners and Sortedam Ventures.
Despite its initial efforts and funding, Evertale eventually ceased operations and is now considered a deadpooled company. The founders, however, went on to other ventures. Matteo Danieli co-founded Remini and Wink, while Luca Ferrari later co-founded the Italian technology company Bending Spoons in 2013, which specializes in acquiring and revitalizing software businesses and has acquired notable companies like Evernote and FiLMiC.
