Founded in 2015 by former UN executives Mathieu Carlier, Alain Retière, and Jan Mattsson, Everimpact provides a Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) platform for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The founders leveraged their extensive experience in managing complex global projects, including setting up UN satellite agencies, to address the challenge of accurately measuring GHG emissions. Carlier (CEO) brought expertise in deploying complex data systems, Retière (CTO) had a background in founding two UN satellite agencies, and Mattsson (Chairman) had experience scaling organizations.
Everimpact's platform combines data from satellites, ground-level sensors, and artificial intelligence to offer real-time, precise measurement of carbon emissions and sequestration. This system moves beyond annual, self-reported estimates to provide clients with continuous, verifiable data. The company serves both public and private sector clients, including cities, ports, and the maritime shipping industry. Initially focused on smart cities, the company expanded into the maritime sector in 2020 after requests from industry giants.
The business model is centered on providing this granular emissions data to help clients identify reduction opportunities. Furthermore, Everimpact certifies these emission reductions, which enables clients to access carbon finance and generate revenue through carbon markets to fund their decarbonization projects. The company has secured several rounds of funding, including a €1.7 million seed round in December 2022 and has raised a total of €3.4M as of June 2025. These funds are being used to expand its monitoring capabilities globally and further develop its shipping measurement solution.
