In 1950, in the small Slovenian town of Izlake, a company named ETI Elektroelement was established. What began as a local producer of electro-porcelain products quickly found its niche. By 1959, ETI was one of the first manufacturers of safety fuses, a critical component for the protection of electrical installations. The company's focus was clear: develop and produce foundational products for electrical safety and control. The company grew steadily, eventually expanding its product line to include circuit breakers and switchgear. After the breakup of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, ETI pivoted its focus towards Western markets. A significant moment occurred in 1995 when a transfer of ownership resulted in the employees becoming the majority shareholders. This move solidified the company's internal stability and set the stage for international expansion, with its first foreign subsidiary established in 1997. A pivotal chapter in ETI's journey unfolded in 2016. A consortium of approximately 950 shareholders, many of them current and former employees, agreed to sell a majority stake to Andlinger & Company, a private investment firm. The acquisition, valued at around €27.5 million, was designed to inject new capital and open up global markets, with Andlinger & Company financing the purchase entirely from its own funds. Today, ETI stands as a leading global provider of products and services for electrical installations, a quiet giant from a small Slovenian town that now powers and protects buildings across the world.
