ESG Analytics

ESG Analytics is a data provider that utilizes artificial intelligence and alternative data sources to assess the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices of companies, countries, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Founded in 2020 by Qayyum Rajan, the Vancouver-based company developed a platform to address the limitations of traditional ESG analysis, which often relies on delayed and potentially biased company disclosures. Rajan, a CFA Charterholder with a background in finance, technology, and data science, created the platform to offer more timely and objective insights for investment management.

The company's core product is a web-based platform and API that employs machine learning and natural language processing to analyze unstructured, non-traditional data. This enables clients, such as researchers, analysts, and asset managers, to uncover risks and opportunities that may not be apparent through conventional methods. The platform provides real-time insights, sentiment analysis, and predictive analytics, allowing users to integrate up-to-date ESG factors into their decision-making processes. The business model is subscription-based, offering various plans and a free trial.

In March 2022, ESG Analytics was acquired by RepTrak, a reputation and brand insights company, to enhance its ESG capabilities. Qayyum Rajan joined RepTrak as the Global Head of ESG Analytics following the acquisition. Subsequently, in February 2025, ExtractAlpha, a provider of alternative data solutions, acquired ESG Analytics from RepTrak. This second acquisition led to Rajan being appointed as the head of the newly formed ExtractAlpha Labs, tasked with developing new data-driven products.
