Envara was a fabless semiconductor company founded in 2000 by Gideon Barak and Izik Kirshenbaum. The firm specialized in designing multi-mode Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) chipset solutions, including its WiND series of chipsets like the 802.11a/b/g WiND 502 and the 802.11b/g WiND 512. These products were marketed as low-cost, low-power solutions for devices such as network interface cards and access points.
The company's target clients included wireless access providers, original design manufacturers (ODMs), personal computer manufacturers, and consumer electronics companies. Throughout its operation, Envara raised a total of $22 million in funding over two rounds, with investors including Evergreen Venture Partners, Gemini Israel Ventures, and Giza Venture Capital. In March 2004, Intel acquired Envara for approximately $40 million.
