WatchWire provides a SaaS platform for energy and sustainability data management, designed for commercial real estate, industrial, retail, and government clients. Founded in 2000 by Jay Raphaelson and Diana Sweeney and formerly known as EnergyWatch, the company initially operated as an energy consulting and procurement advisory firm. It later pivoted to developing its software platform, WatchWire, to address a market need for managing complex energy and sustainability data.
The company was acquired by Tango, a real estate and facilities management software provider backed by Berkshire Partners, in August 2023. Andy Anderson, who was the CEO of WatchWire, became the EVP of Energy & Sustainability Solutions at Tango following the acquisition. In 2021, prior to the acquisition, WatchWire secured a USD $2.5 million debt financing facility from TIMIA Capital to fuel growth without equity dilution.
The WatchWire platform automates the collection, auditing, and consolidation of utility invoice and interval data for energy, water, waste, and emissions. Its core functionalities include utility bill management, budgeting and forecasting, peak load management, and measurement and verification of efficiency projects. The platform also offers robust sustainability and carbon accounting features, calculating Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and streamlining reporting for standards like GRESB, CDP, SASB, and ENERGY STAR. By integrating with systems such as LEED Arc, it helps clients track progress towards sustainability goals like net-zero emissions. The service is delivered as a cloud-based solution, utilizing AI to analyze data and provide actionable insights through customizable dashboards.
