Energy 21 a.s. operates as a significant entity in the Czech renewable energy sector, specializing in the development and operation of photovoltaic power plants. The company was officially registered in March 2007.

The firm's core business revolves around generating electricity from its portfolio of solar parks. By 2009, the company was already constructing its thirteenth solar park in the Czech Republic, indicating a rapid expansion in its early years. The business model is centered on selling the produced electricity, benefiting from previously established favorable feed-in tariffs. Financially, the company has demonstrated substantial revenue generation, with sales reaching 850 million CZK and a net profit of 365 million CZK in one of its recent fiscal years. The company's portfolio comprises 31 photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 61.3 megawatts, making it one of the largest solar power producers in the country, second only to the state-owned ČEZ Group.

Over the years, Energy 21 has undergone significant ownership changes. Initially, a majority stake was held by the investment group Mid Europa Partners. Later, it was acquired by the Chinese-backed CEE Equity Partners before being sold in 2021 to the Austrian investment company Enery Development. This acquisition was a strategic move for Enery, expanding its footprint in the Czech renewable market. Following this transition, Energy 21 a.s. and its subsidiaries were integrated into the Enery group.
