Energies de Loire

Energies de Loire (EDL) is a specialized developer, builder, and operator of mid-sized photovoltaic power plants in France's Pays de la Loire and Brittany regions. Founded in 2018 by Grégoire Papion and David Leroueil, who both had prior experience in the photovoltaic sector, the company started in a garage and has seen significant growth. Aurélien Goyeau joined the leadership team in 2023.

The company offers a fully integrated, turnkey service, managing projects from initial design and authorization to construction, maintenance, and operation. Its solutions include installing solar panels on new or existing building rooftops, parking lot canopies (ombrières), and small-scale ground-mounted systems. EDL serves a professional client base that includes farmers, industrial companies, and local authorities. Its business model is dual: acting as a construction contractor for clients who invest in their own systems, or acting as a third-party investor (Independent Power Producer - IPP) where EDL finances the project and either pays rent to the property owner or finances the building itself. This allows clients to generate income or benefit from reduced electricity costs through self-consumption.

In early 2025, Energies de Loire secured €15 million in funding from Isalt to accelerate its growth, with a target of reaching an installed capacity of 800 MW by 2030. The company is also expanding its services to include energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and agrivoltaics. In 2023, it launched a subsidiary, PV WASH, to provide eco-responsible solar panel cleaning services. The firm reported revenues of €38 million in 2023 and €62 million in 2024, demonstrating a strong growth trajectory.
